ITG4AU project partners attend their first Best Practices visit to the SRH Hochschule in Berlin

On 12th to 16th November, the ITG4AU consortium, mostly with their internal team formation and their Rectors and Vice-rectors, visited the SRH Hochschule Berlin, on the scope of study Best Practices on IT Governance. The aim of the visit is to know firsthand a real case study about a governance framework implantation based on ISO/IEC 38500 standard.
Participants from Polytechnic University of Tirana, Aleksander Moisiu University of Durrës, European University of Tirana and Universiy of Tirana were welcomed by Vladimir Stantchev, as a representative of SRH Hochschule, who explained in detail the SRH operation, its governance structure, its studies and infrastructure. Furthermore, they also attended several seminars whose speakers were Professor Michael Hartmann, Vice President of Academic Affairs & Teaching, Study Programme Director Renewable Energy who detailed in a more specific way the syllabus of the double degree computer sciences and business, Sarfaraz Ghulam Muhammad, IT Analyst who explained the internal configuration of the IT services and Gerrit Tamm, Director of the Institute of Information Systems who shared his experience and lattest implemented technology. Attendees also took advantage of the visit to work on the IT governance model explained in the second training.
Besides, several workshops and activities were scheduled to participate with the Albanian universities' Rectors, specifically Mynir Koni, Rector of UT; Tonin Gjuraj, former Rector of UET; Kseanela Sotirofski, Rector of UAMD; and Andrea Maliqari, Rector of UPT. In the event, Senén Barro, former Rector of University of Santiago de Compostela, gave a talk by videoconference explaining Why a Rector should implant an IT governance system. After that, Antonio Fernández from Universidad de Almeria, and Carlos Juiz, Coordinator of the project, from Universitat de les Illes Balears, moderated the workshops about IT Strategic Portfolio and the Transformation of the University through Digitalization. The main aim of these events were to guide Rectors to realize the importance of having a good IT governance implementation and to engage them and their main stakeholders with the project activities.
IT Governance for Albanian Universities
This project is aimed to gather a set of researchers from four universities with a wide experience in developing and deploying ITG framework models from 3 different countries (Spain, Germany and Norway) to develop, adapt and test a new ITG framework to be implemented in HEIs in Albania. Expected results of this project include a better governance model for IT in Albanian HEIs as well as an overall modernization of the governance processes for HEIs and a contribution of the cooperation between EU and Albania.
